How To Train Your Dragon 3: The Hidden World (2019) |Film Review

After nine years we get to say goodbye to The How To Train Your Dragon Series.

Synopsis:

How To Train Your Dragon 3: The Hidden World is set one year after the prequel How To Train Your Dragon 2.

When Hiccup discovers Toothless isn’t the only Night Fury, he must seek “The Hidden World”, a secret Dragon Utopia before a hired tyrant named Grimmel finds it first. (IMDb)

The film has been released in Australia January 3rd and will be released everywhere else internationally (including the US) February 22nd.

I don’t know why it was released in Australia first but I believe Australia has a major impact in making the film. Considering Australia has one of the biggest film industries this wouldn’t be surprising.

The movie starts off with Hiccup facing the challenges of his duties as the rightful chief of Berk and being able to keep the Dragons. Berk then faces Grimmel known as one of the best dragon hunters and as the man who kills all of the Nightfurries. Grimmerl is quite a generic yet interesting antagonist. But I think his fall was just a bit too easy.

The film explores coming of age and many valuable life lessons. Hiccup has to learn how to be a good Chief to his people as well as maintaining a good relationship with Toothless. The scenes where Hiccup is trying to get Toothless get a girlfriend is hilarious but it makes him realize he has to let him go. This shows a very important life lesson and we get to see a change in Hiccup.

The film addresses topics such as Life, Loss. Self Esteem, Friendship, Love and Relationships which is great for the target audience which is family and children.

Every sequel I see a change in the animation. And the animation just gets better and better every sequel. Although I wasn’t a fan of the clothing designs in the prequel I must say I loved Astrid’s outfits in this film.

The soundtracks in the film is amazing. I believe the How To Train Your Dragon Series have some of the best soundtracks I have heard in films. Although the music didn’t give me the same emotional impact as the prequels.

I would say my favourite part in this film would be the ending it was a great scene and are great way to say goodbye to this series.
